virtual worlds 2007 is a conference that actually happened twice this year. there was a spring conference in new york city, and a fall one that happened in san jose the last two days. i missed spring, but i did get to go to san jose. you can see some of my notes and thoughts from various sessions on the metaversum blog. i wrote it up in 4 pieces:
in general, here are some of my thoughts on the whole event:
- the conference was well-planned, aside from some concurrent sessions that
- i had heard many of these same speakers and panelists speak on exactly the same topics a couple of times previously, and there wasn’t a whole lot of new information
- the biggest exception to that was a couple of panels where there were high-profile companies that other panelists fervently disagreed with
- the csi keynote was entertaining
- the expo part of the event was actually pretty valuable. this is a very young industry, and we’re starting to get more and more peripheral services, like specific pieces of technology or outsourced services. i hadn’t heard of several of these companies, so it was good to have a chance to meet them
- the attendee list was also just great. there was really basically everyone that i wanted to meet and chat with there. good stuff!
