i finished this book the other day:

main points:

  • you never know who is going to talk to whom, and therefore influence that other person
  • people participate in various networks (e.g. family, work, social) and they can spread their opinions in any of those networks
  • marketers who target key influencing customers often miss getting their message to the perceptually needed 10%
  • keep updating information
  • build suspense and excitement through mystery

in the end, though, i didn’t find this book that good. the examples weren’t great, and often didn’t really seem to support the author’s arguments to me. overall, the book wasn’t that informative and didn’t really connect with me.

i was listening to this story on npr this morning on a podcast on my way to work, and it touched me. my daughters relate to dora a lot and really love it. and as a parent, i have rarely felt as good about a tv show for my kids.
