book: rautatie
books December 9th, 2011i just finished reading a book in finnish, called rautatie (the railroad). reading it was a fun process for me. the language was older finnish, and very formal. so that took a bit of getting used to. but what i really loved about it was the concept – imagine two old people who have lived their whole lives in one little village, and then hear about and finally see the railroad. they can’t imagine what it might be like, and talk about how you can get to america on the railroad. it’s all sounds silly and quaint, but it’s good fun.
