i did this in reserve. i read superfreakanomics first. but now i finally got to read the original freakanomics. it’s funny – even with all the evidence and research, i’m not sure i agree with all the conclusions they draw in the book. but maybe that’s part of the point, just to make people question cause and effect. to me, that was the focus – cause and effect. the economic discussion focus around incentives (cause) and behaviors (effect). so i find that to be a logical way to look at all the arguments presented. i know the abortion and crime story was particularly poignant and controversial. overall, it was a good read, and made me think about a few things. good fun. and if reading isn’t for fun and/or learning, then what is it for?
